Description[ | ]

The Jelly Temple is a type of Civilization that is found at the end of the Aurelian Depths. Aurelias populate the Jelly Temple and, rarely, you will be able to recruit an Essence.
It is a formidable keep made of a strange, pink material, glistening with many luminescent crystals chiseled into sturdy windows, embedded accross its semi-gelatinous extense. Atop its rounded ceiling, twisting tentacle-like structures spring upwards, as if hands reaching towards the unreachable skies. Inside the structure, great hallways extend themselves forwards, decorated with rich tapestries and illuminated with ornate columns holding bioluminescent crystals, and leading the way onto the stairs that allow entrance to the following floors. Brimming with Aurelias, the temple is their place of worship, as well as their home, and they welcome any visitors that wish to converse with them, or perhaps acquire some of their wares.

The following are the NPCs found in the Jelly Temple.

The Aurelias are the citizens of the Jelly Temple.

Description[ | ]

The Aurelias are humanoid Jellyfish with a single eye and two arms in addition to their multiple tentacles. They have a very pronounced sexual dimorphism, with the females being pink and having a very small head with tentacles pointing upwards, and the males being orange and having a much larger head with tentacles pointing down, resembling a normal medusa. They live in the Jelly Temple and are highly electrogemoc, meaning they can generate electricity, which they use for self-defense. They are quite peaceful and very religious, and worship an entity known as the Golden One.

Behavior[ | ]

They will stand in their positions and if a player interacts with them, they will talk with the player using their native language, which can be translated by the Translation Book. If they are attacked or robbed, they will chase the players and attack them with powerful electric charges, and may invade the submarine if you try to escape. They are capable of destroying doors, meaning even your own ship will not be safe if you decide to attack them. Additionally, they are capable of swimming, which makes it even harder to escape them.

Tactics[ | ]

The Dynamite is the best item to use if you want to kill the Aurelias and steal their goods. If no dynamite is available, large crews with healing items may be able to tank their damage and kill them.

Dialogue[ | ]

  • Hello dearest ones.
  • Come, bring forth your appendages and pray with us.
  • My Golden One, bring us your kindness and your charity.
  • Let the fluid run through our bodies and souls.
  • Thank You.

  • Have you yet noticed anything remarkable about these waters?
  • Perhaps that, even when breathed, it does not make one drown?
  • Or that the life it supports is so highly energized?
  • These are the things which we ponder.

  • Divers of the deep!
  • Heed my advice…
  • What lies deepest in this trench is folly.
  • Is False.
  • Is Unholy.
  • I implore you to return from whence you came.
  • Peace within you, travelers.

  • Greetings wanderers.
  • It’s quite rare that we are blessed with any travelers.
  • Might I kindly suggest that you visit our shop?
  • You’ll be needing upgrades if you intend to dive deeper…

  • Oh my…
  • Oh dearest ones, your submarine simply will not do.
  • You sweet wanderers should visit our shop.
  • You’re sure to find some upgrades there.
  • Thank our savior that I was here to give you such advice!

  • Friends!
  • I must tell a piece of prophecy...
  • A group like your own shall find its way beneath this temple.
  • They shall come upon the Divine Protector.
  • That one who has for all time kept the Unholy Horror sealed beneath.
  • They shall slay the Divine Protector and face the Deep.
  • And in turn, find themselves taking the role of Divine Protector.
  • And so it shall continue...

  • By the Great Impetus.
  • You look just like him, friend.
  • Perhaps when the next Undoing takes place...
  • You will be the one to have done it.
  • I wish you luck on your last steps, friend.

  • Travelers!
  • I hope that the burrowing worms did not cause you too much trouble.
  • Certainly, they are destructive.
  • But that destruction provides us with a steady trickle of cut stone.
  • You stand in a sanctuary built, in part, with that stone.
  • And so one form of destruction becomes another form of creation.
  • Contemplate upon this, friends.

  • Welcome to our temple, travelers.
  • It was built upon the precipice of all that is Unholy.
  • You stand now at the last point of solace.

  • I met the Divine Guardian once.
  • The one who keeps the Unholy sealed in the Deep.
  • They had awoken. The sound, adventurer. It was…
  • It was the most great and terrible of all sounds.
  • He took me back to the temple in a flash of light.
  • The sound had stopped…
  • But no one in the temple could recognize me any longer.
  • It was as if I had never existed to them.
  • Protection from the Unholy, friend, comes at a price.

  • Please, travelers, gather.
  • You must be warned of what is to come.
  • Madness, friends.
  • Madness is to come.
  • Unless you turn back.

  • Friend, I must indulge a secret.
  • I think the Aurelian scholars are wrong.
  • They speak of Unholy Horror below this temple.
  • But I have seen, in the shadows beyond these walls...
  • Something incomprehensibly large.
  • It watches us from a great distance.
  • After a time, it descends back below.
  • If it had intentions to destroy us
  • I trust it would have done so by now.
  • I wonder if it contemplates on our wellness?
  • Tell no one what I have told you.

  • Be safe, friends.

  • Dear travelers,
  • Come closer, for I have a warning.
  • Deep in these miraculous waters
  • Lurks a child of madness.
  • Cursed in the midst of adolescence
  • This perturbed creature knows no mercy.

  • Just beyond this temple lies a great foe.
  • I predict asking you to turn back…
  • ...will be met with deaf ears.
  • Don’t slow down.
  • That is my only advice.

  • You have defiled the temple!
  • This is a place of sanctity!
  • We do not tolerate your transgressions!
  • You disrespect this place!
  • Face judgment for your crimes!

The Blessed Aurelia is the Doctor of the Jelly Temple.

    Description[ | ]

The Blessed Aurelia is a male aurelia that has been blessed by the Golden One, granting it a unique, powerful glow and mystical abilities that it uses to cure anyone that's in need of medical assistance. As he has been blessed by the aurelia deity, he is possibly the religious authority of the aurelia society.

    Behavior[ | ]

He will stand in his position and if a player interacts with him, he will talk with the player using his native language, which can be translated by the Translation Book, and will instantly heal the player, restoring their health and curing any Afflictions. If he or his brethren are attacked or robbed, they will chase the players and attack them with poweful electric charges, and may invade the submarine if you try to escape.

    • You look sickly, dear one.
    • May you let our light restore.

  • Don't worry, dear ones. Let the Golden One cleanse you.
  • Its light shines brighter even now.

  • I see need within you.
  • Remember to pass the charity of healing unto others.

  • You shall not desecrete our temple!
  • Begone, blasphemous creature!

    Health(int.) 15

The Essence is a recruitable NPC rarely found in the Jelly Temple.

    Description[ | ]

The Essence is an unknown being made out of some mystical luminescent material taking the form of a vaguely humanoid shape. It is unknown what the Essence is, nor how it was created or brought forth into The Living Infinite. It is possible that it was a gift from the Golden One to the Aurelias, or perhaps it is the extracted essence of some unseen entity...

    Behavior[ | ]

Once recruited, they will join the crew with a pipe wrench and will be able to do many tasks, such as repairing breaches, attacking invading enemies or enemies inside caves or using the Submarine's Turret. Similarly to Crew Bots, they can be instructed through the use of the Command Wheel to order them to do specific tasks.
