Afflictions are in-game status effects that you can contract through various means; the most common of which being ingesting flooding water while drowning in it. Every biome's water has different properties, and will affect which afflictions you can contract in each area. Each of them will affect the player differently and will alter their appearance, as well as release many particles that indicate to other crewmembers that the player is afflicted.

This is a list of all currently available afflictions.

Curing Afflictions[]

There are a few ways players can currently remove an Affliction after contracting it. Here are the ways you can do this:


BarnaclePersonDoctor.png Doctors - Player's can cure their Afflictions by talking to Doctors found in Civilizations, as long as they weren't attacked or robbed.


HealthKit.png Medkit - Players can also cure their Afflictions by being healed with a Medkit by your crewmates. Every time you are healed by it, there is a 10% chance of all afflictions you contracted being cured!

Chemistry Kit[]

ChemistrySetFlasksPurple.png Purple Elixir - Another way to cure Afflictions is to utilize the Chemistry Kit to create a Purple Elixir. Throw the Purple Elixir at whoever needs to be cured, and they will be cured. Using the Purple Elixir, players can even cure multiple players at once!


Sea Sickness-Causes the player to vomit often, slowing them down and placing down a vomit pile, which will slow down and infect other players.

Hypothermia-Causes the player to move slower.

Curse-Causes an aggressive ghost to spawn when the affected player dies and decreases maximum health by 1 point.

Atomic Disorder-Causes the player's size to be randomly changed every 50 seconds.

Barnacle Infection-Causes small barnacle spiders to hatch in and come out of the player's mouth every so often.

Blood Sickness-Decreases maximum health by 2 points.

Heat Stroke-Slightly decreases player's breath and speed.

Golden Gift-Increases maximum health by 2, but significantly decreases breath, damage, and repair.

Ancient Flu-Causes dangerous particles to shoot out of the player's sides, damaging any nearby allies.

Oil Drench-Decreases damage and repair.

Madness-Causes the player to see false enemies.

Time Plague-Will damage the player and release spores that infect any other player every so often.


Sea Sickness-Drowning in the Atlantic Waters, drowning in the Dark Depths, Blobfish, and rotten apples given by the Trash Hermit.

Hypothermia-Drowning in the Frozen Waters.

Curse-Drowning in the Cursed Waters.

Atomic Disorder-Drowning in the Micro Depths.

Barnacle Infection-Drowning in the Infected Depths.

Blood Sickness-Being attacked by a Baby Lamprey, Futurebot, Nerve Beast, Pain Clown, or a Sentient Lamprey.

Heat Stroke-Drowning in the Volcanic Depths.

Golden Gift-Drowning in the Aurelian Depths.

Ancient Flu-Drowning in the Ancient Abyss.

Oil Drench-Drowning in the Mechanical Abyss.

Madness-Drowning in The Meteor or entering the Space of Scholars.

Time Plague-Interacting with spores released by the spawn of a Time Devourer.
